Black Women’s Dept. of Labor

2020 - PRESENT

A project and podcast examining the intersections of race, gender and the double entendre of labor: to work and to give birth. Formerly known as the Birth Justice Podcast NYC (2020-2021), this work is rooted in Black feminism and committed to reproductive justice. Available wherever you listen to podcasts, including YouTube.

The Colored Girls Hustle Marketplace

2018 - 2019

A curated pop-up shopping experience featuring women-identified artists, creatives, and makers who are Black, Indigenous, and People of Color with the intention to foster collaborative economic practices for and with women of color vendors. In two years, I curated 12 markets in Brooklyn and Manhattan, NY that generated over $70,000 in sales for more than 60 women of color artists and small businesses. The CGH Marketplace was featured on NBC News, NY1, and News 12 Brooklyn.

(E) Commerce

2011-2019

This is how Colored Girls Hustle began! I started designing earrings and other adornment, then later added apparel, buttons, and books to the store. Primarily an online commerce endeavor with periodic pop-up shops at festivals, conferences, fairs and other curated events.

The Colored Girls Hustle Hard Mixtape

2012-2015

A collaboration with Jessica Valoris which featured YouTube videos, an IndieGogo fundraiser to support our project, a mixtape release tour with live in-person hip-hop performances, and community workshops.

On Her Hustle®️

2012-2014, 2019

This began as a series of blog interviews of women of color in my community and network who embodied the values, ethos, and mission of Colored Girls Hustle®️. In 2019 the Colored Girls Hustle Marketplace hosted a series of Black women led workshops in NYC for creatives and entrepreneurs.
