The Free Black Women's Library (TFBWL) is an interactive biblio installation with a collection of 1,000 books written by Black women. Come trade books written by Black women with the library 12:00p-6:00p. At the CGH Marketplace, TFBWL will be discussing Zora Neale Hurston's new novel Barracoon at 3:00pm on the patio.
JoGoesWest is a pop-up installation by Joanne Petit-Frère featuring her hair sculpture series where she fashions masks and crowns with gravity defying shapes and architectural braiding. At the CGH Marketplace she will be launching a catalogue zine showcasing her works of the past 7 years. Her work has been commissioned by Janelle Monae, Solange and Beyonce, and has been featured in The New Yorker, Vogue, CNN, and more.
Admission is FREE and open to the public. No ticket or registration required; however, if you RSVP on our Eventbrite page and check in when you show up to the CGH Marketplace, you automatically enter a raffle for a chance to win some free goodies from participating vendors.
The Eventbrite will close at 8:00 am Sunday July 15th, so if you want to enter the raffle: be sure to RSVP before then! Raffle prizes include: your choice of Colored Girls Hustle merch, nailpolish from Selenia Beauty, and a 45 minute reading with Gisell of Between Earth and Sky.
